Colombia, images for Life

This documentary short film takes audiences on a musical journey through Colombia’s diverse regions, highlighting the richness of its culture, landscapes, and traditions.

The score presented unique challenges due to its variety of musical styles, tempo changes, and regional rhythms. To achieve the highest level of precision and expression, the orchestra recorded the work in sections, allowing the musicians to adapt to its changing musical demands and deliver an authentic, stylistically refined performance.

Lunar Eclipse

This concert work, composed by Wilmer Guzmán, was one of the most technically demanding pieces of the recording session. Its harmonic language, built around structures of fourths and seconds, required exceptional precision in intonation, ensemble balance, and musical coordination.

The score also features highly virtuosic passages throughout the orchestra. Performing these sections while following a click track added an additional level of complexity, demanding accuracy, focus, and strong technical control from the musicians. The result was a polished and expressive performance that successfully captured the character and artistic vision of the work.

Santa María Theme

This is the main theme from the film Santa María, an intimate and deeply emotional work that reflects the inner world of its protagonist. Through sensitive and expressive writing, the music captures the feelings and conflicts that shape the story.

Featuring a smaller orchestration than the other works recorded during the session, this piece was selected to open the recording process, allowing the orchestra to establish key elements such as intonation, ensemble balance, and musical phrasing that would support the rest of the repertoire.
